MALIBU, Calif. –
The Pepperdine men’s tennis team opened the final regular season weekend at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center this Friday afternoon with a 4-0 sweep over Santa Clara.  After securing the doubles point, the Waves quickly earned three singles victories to clinch the win.
The Waves (11-10, 5-3 WCC) head into the final regular season match-up with the win over the Gaels (11-9, 4-4 WCC) under the team’s belt.
In doubles play, junior Tom Hill (Birmingham, England/K12 International Academy) and freshman
Jack Van Slyke (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Laurel Springs HS (CA) opened the day with a 6-1 win over Jeffrey Liang and Sebastien Mathiew on court three.

The on court two, junior Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./Fusion Academy) and sophomore Pedro Iamachkine (Lima, Peru/Nebraska HS) bested Ashot Khacharyan and Mex Heerinckx 6-3 to clinch the doubles point.
The winning ways would not stop in singles play either, as the home team dominated the courts to finish out the complete sweep.
First, Van Slyke put down Connor Garnett with a pair of 6-1 set wins on court four to give the Waves a two-point advantage.  Then, Menichella was solid in the number five singles position for a 6-0, 6-3 win to put the Waves one-point away from clinching the sweep.
Iamachkine was up to the task on court three as he faced off with Andrew Gu.  He took the first set by a 6-1 decision and continued to put the Gaels’ player down with a 6-2 final set, clinching the 4-0 victory and sending the Waves into the final regular season match-up on Saturday with a win.
Next, the Pepperdine will host San Francisco on April 23 at 3:30 p.m. at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu.  Follow @PeppTennis on Twitter for the most immediate updates and find results, recaps and more on PepperdineSports.com.
