#4 Women's Tennis Dominates #28 Baylor 5-0

Luisa Stefani clinched the match for the Waves and advanced her dual record to 5-0 on the season thus far.

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The No. 4 Pepperdine women’s tennis team dominated No. 28 Baylor 5-0 in a non-conference matchup at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Friday night.
No. 28 Luisa Stefani clinched the overall match for the Waves (9-1) over the Bears (8-9) in singles, while Pepperdine also swept through doubles action with wins on courts one and three.

Pepperdine came out firing on all cylinders, pulling ahead on all courts to open doubles play. The Waves’ No. 3 pair, Ashley Lahey and Adrijana Lekaj finished first with a 6-2 win over Camilla Abbate and Livia Kraus for the Waves’ first advantage. No. 38 Luisa Stefani and Mayar Sherif closed the opening round with a 6-4 win on court one over Kris Sorokolet and Dominka Sujova.
With the advantage heading into singles, Pepperdine had the momentum early on, winning all six first sets. No. 19 Lahey made quick work of her opponent on court two, Theres Van Zyl, with a pair of 6-1 set wins. Then, No. 76 Laura Gulbe extended the Waves’ lead to 3-0 with a couple of 6-2 set wins over Giorgia Testa to put her team in a position to clinch.
No. 28 Stefani would be the Wave to clinch. After a 6-1 first set win, she dominated the second set en route to a 6-3 win over Kris Sorokolet in the No. 1 position to extend the Waves’ record to 9-1 on the season thus far. As the match in court three was already playing the final point, No. 10 Sherif was able to finish off her match against Camilla Abbate 6-2, 6-4 to make it a 5-0 win for the Waves throughout.
